The Flame in the Flood Review: Smoke on the Water

The Flame in the Flood is a survival and river rafting game released by The Molasses Flood, an indie studio made up of ex-AAA studio "refugees." The Flame in the Flood follows Scout and her faithful canine companion Aesop as they journey down a raging river in post-societal America. It's been in Early Access for a while now after a successful Kickstarter, but this week the full release is out on Steam and Xbox One. Read on to find out more in my Flame in the Flood review!

Dark Rituals and Blood Sacrifice: Den vänstra handens stig

The only succinct way to describe Den vänstra handens stig is to call it "divisive." Every label I attempt to attach to it slides off its slippery, icy surface. Despite my frustration at attempting to fully comprehend it, I can confidently say that Den vänstra handens stig is by far the most interesting experience I had at PAX South 2016. Now that it's had some time to sink in, and I've had a chance to talk to creator M. James Short about it, I'm ready to share what I think I know.

Rocket League XBox One Review: Nothing but net

If you don't live in a hole, it's hard to imagine how you have not heard of Psyonix's Rocket League by now. It exploded onto the scene last year with a savvy "free on Playstation Plus" launch, and has been an Indie darling ever since. More recently, Rocket League even pulled in some impressive awards at DICE to add to the pile it has already collected. It has been on my list to check out since shortly after the PS launch, but there's been just one problem - no support for XBox One. While I almost picked it up on PC half a dozen times, I held off because I tend to be a rather solitary PC gamer other than when I join my partner in crime agent86ix - and Rocket League is clearly a game best played with friends. This week all that has changed, and Rocket League has finally blessed the XBone community with it's car soccer physics mayhem. Read on for my take on why this game has set so many hearts (and other body parts) on fire.

Unending Galaxy Review: Universally Ambitious

Unending Galaxy is a sandbox space sim that touches a bunch of different genres, developed by Anarkis Gaming. In it, you play a humble ship owner who can become a miner, trader, pirate, space-businessman, or even a warmongering dictator of your own sprawling empire. It's a relentlessly ambitious combination of elements, but do they work well together? That's the question I'm setting out to answer in my Unending Galaxy review.

HyperX Savage SSD Review

We met with the fine folks at Kingston/HyperX at PAX South 2016. While we mostly talked headsets, I did follow up with HyperX about their other gaming-rig-related products. They offered to send me a HyperX SSD to check out, so I've put the Savage through its paces as part of my streaming machine upgrade. If you're interested in the HyperX Savage line, check out my review!

Black Ice Preview

Black Ice is a cyberpunk styled first person shooter from Super Duper Game Company that is currently available on Steam Early Access. You play as a 80's "Hollywood style" hacker, who must "jack in" and do nefarious stuff in a neon/techno CGI cyberspace. We saw Black Ice at two consecutive PAX Souths, and got a key to check out the current version from developer Garrett Cooper.

Epistory: Typing Chronicles Preview

Epistory: Typing Chronicles is yet another unique indie title that we checked out at PAX South 2016. It has the distinction of being the only typing-based game I've played in the last... ten years or so. What makes it so special? Let's go into detail in my Epistory: Typing Chronicles preview!

Firewatch Spoiler Free Review: Watching Fires

If you've watched any of our streams, you'll already know that I'm a pretty big Idle Thumbs fan to the point that agent86ix sometimes refers to them as our "unofficial sponser". It should be no surpise then that when a few of the Thumbs formed Campo Santo and started working on a game called Firewatch, that I was obsessively excited to play it. I'll also briefly mention at this point that I will keep this review "spoiler free", and probably chat about plot aspects of the game in a later article - so read on without fear..

Just Cause 3 Quickstart Guide

Just Cause 3 is a big game, but it's nowhere near as intimidating as Just Cause 2 to get 100% in. There are a lot of unintuitive systems and tricky challenges, though! I just finished my 100% run, so I'll share with you my favorite Just Cause 3 tips and tricks in my Just Cause 3 Quickstart Guide!
